Turkish forces neutralize 12 PKK/YPG terrorists in northern Syria

Turkish Armed Forces liquidated 12 PKK/YPG terrorists who shelled the zones of the anti-terrorist operations "Euphrates Shield" and "Olive Branch" in northern Syria.

The relevant information was published by the Ministry of National Defense of Turkiye on May 22, Caliber.Az reports.

The ministry said in a statement that the fight against terrorists continues effectively and decisively.

On August 24, 2016, Turkey declared that it was exercising its rights of self-defence codified under the UN Charter Article 51, and launched Operation Euphrates Shield. A National Security Council press release (Nov. 30, 2016) stated that the operation’s objectives were to maintain border security and confront Daesh terrorism within the framework of the UN charter; it also emphasized that the PKK terrorist organization, as well as its affiliates the PYD/YPG, will not be allowed to establish a corridor of terror on Turkey’s doorstep.

Meanwhile, according to the Turkish General Staff, Operation Olive Branch aims to establish security and stability along the Turkey-Syria border as well as to protect the Syrian people from the cruelty of terrorists.
