Azerbaijan-Iran trade turnover grows by 30 per cent in 2021

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has said that the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Iran does not fully reflect the potential of economic cooperation between the countries.

The minister made the statement at a press conference following a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran on July 5, Report informs, citing the Iranian Mehr News Agency.

Bayramov noted that during the meetings with Iranian officials, he discussed regional issues and bilateral relations between the two countries.

“Even though in 2021 there was a 30 per cent increase in trade between the two countries, as well as an 18 per cent increase in trade between Azerbaijan and Iran since the beginning of 2022 compared to the same period last year, the commercial and economic opportunities of the two countries may be higher than these figures,” he said.
