Zelenskyy talks reasons behind Russia's destruction of Ukrainian cities
WORLD 04 July 2022 - 17:24
The Russian Federation is launching missile and artillery strikes on Ukrainian cities not only because of its military tactics. The enemy is trying to destroy the space for life.
RBC-Ukraine reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the remark while addressing participants of the donor conference in Lugano, Switzerland.
In particular, he noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has destroyed more than 2,100 educational facilities and almost 800 medical infrastructure facilities.
In his view, Russia is trying to prove the alleged failure of the democratic system and the European choice of the Ukrainian people to provide life.
"Look at the Russian army's systematic destruction of residential neighborhoods in our cities and the constant rocket terror. What are they doing this for? It's not purely a military tactic. Everyone has the space of their home, and it's not just a separate apartment or house, it's a part of the city or the countryside where one socializes, works, loves, and travels to see parents. This is why the Russian occupiers shoot residential houses from tanks or shell city neighborhoods with artillery, why they launch rockets at houses, to destroy all this space of life. To kill people's sense of home," Zelenskyy stressed.
He also added that more than 12 million Ukrainians are already internally displaced. And there is a chance that after the devastating strikes on Ukraine, it will be difficult for many to regain a sense of home, even if they have a place to go back to.
