Armenia PM, Vatican Secretary of State discuss regional situation
On July 12, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia hosted Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See.
The sides discussed bilateral relations and the situation in the region, TASS reports citing the press service of the Armenian government.
"We highly appreciate your contribution to the development of relations between Armenia and the Vatican and your readiness to give a new impetus to the relations between the countries. The visits of Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis in 2001 and 2016 are very warmly remembered in Armenia, but I must also emphasize that this is the first visit of the Vatican Secretary of State to Armenia. And it is a great honour for me to receive you. It speaks of a new charge in our relations," Pashinyan said, whose words are quoted in the report.
The sides discussed issues related to both bilateral relations and regional processes. Parolin expressed the Holy See's readiness to promote peace and stability in the region.
Earlier, Cardinal Parolin met with the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II.
