Armenia's military investigators to be armed with assault rifles
Investigators of the Main Military Investigation Department of the Armenian Investigative Committee will have the right to carry assault rifles.
The relevant amendments to the law "On the circulation of weapons" were adopted at the session of the parliamentary commission on defence and security issues, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.
Deputy Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan noted at the session that the proposal is related to the specifics of military investigators' work.
She emphasized that only military investigators would have the right to carry assault rifles.
The document is to be discussed at the plenary session of the National Assembly of Armenia.
To recap, the law "On the circulation of weapons" came into force on June 1, 2023. After that, it was proposed to make a number of amendments to the document.
