Armenian former official slams incompetent government
Former Chairman of the Armenian State Revenue Committee David Ananyan has stated that Armenia does not have standing as a subject of international law.
“The Strategic Partnership Declaration signed between China and Azerbaijan within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) highlights crucial elements of Azerbaijan's foreign policy and regional influence,” he said, Caliber.Az reports citing the Armenian media.
Ananyan highlighted two main points regarding the signing of the Strategic Partnership Declaration between China and Azerbaijan within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). Firstly, he pointed out that Azerbaijan's action demonstrates its aim to integrate into the global arena dominated by powers traditionally opposed to the West, particularly Russia and China. This move signifies Azerbaijan's effort to diversify its international relations and enhance cooperation with key geopolitical players outside the Western sphere.
Secondly, Ananyan suggested that the signing of the declaration represents an initial step towards deeper integration, potentially leading Azerbaijan to strengthen its position among BRICS member states. This move reflects Azerbaijan's ambition to expand its spheres of influence and deepen economic cooperation.
Ananyan also noted that the outcomes of the 44-day second Karabakh war and subsequent anti-terrorist operations in Karabakh in 2023 have heightened Azerbaijan's role and status in the region.
“All this is the result of long pragmatic work being carried out by the Azerbaijani leader amid criminal inaction and/or coordinated anti-state actions of our incompetent, illiterate and anti-people government. The matter does not rest in the past or present international support for Azerbaijan. The tragic consequences of our situation are important to us. Armenia is not a regional factor. It does not have the potential for resistance and reflex. Moreover, Armenia, as a subject of international law, simply does not exist de facto,” he added.
Ananyan said that these developments are the outcome of extensive pragmatic efforts by the Azerbaijani leadership, contrasting with what he described as the criminal inaction or coordinated anti-state actions of Armenia's incompetent, ill-informed, and anti-popular government.
He emphasized that the issue extends beyond current or past international support for Azerbaijan, stressing the significant repercussions of Armenia's situation.
“Armenia lacks regional influence, lacks the potential for effective resistance or response, and essentially does not exist as a de facto subject of international law,” he added.
