Azerbaijan eyes to build, restore over 30 hydropower plants in liberated lands
Head of the Power and Thermal Energy Department at the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry Alasgar Hasanov has said that Azerbaijan intends to build and restore 37 small hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 240 megawatts in the territories liberated from occupation.
“A small hydroelectric power plant with a total capacity of 20 megawatts has already been put into operation, while seven more are being used in a test mode and will be put into operation as soon as possible,” Hasanov told reporters, according to APA.
He noted that at present, work is underway in the Zangilan district to restore four hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 10.5 megawatts each, while three power plants are being restored in the Lachin district.
Hasanov added that 19 hydroelectric power plants are planned to be brought to the investment level and to be restored.
