Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company, Germany’s Uniper to sign new document

Germany has been looking for alternative sources of natural gas import.

“The Azerbaijani minister of energy met with his German counterpart within the participation in the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue Conference 2022. Germany will be represented at the Energy Forum, which will be held in Baku in June 2022. I can’t say for sure a minister or a deputy minister will represent our country, however, Germany will participate in this forum,” German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Wolfgang Manig said, APA reports.

The diplomat emphasized the cooperation between the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Germany’s Uniper company.

“A meeting between SOCAR and Uniper will be held on April 28, and they will sign a document. Germany is greatly interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of energy resources. We know that the Southern Gas Corridor’s capabilities have been exhausted and in the current situation it cannot transport sufficient volumes of gas,” Manig said.
