Azerbaijani FM briefs Turkic counterparts on normalisation with Armenia PHOTO

17 October 2022 17:24

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov attended an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Turkic States in Istanbul on October 17.

The main issues on the agenda of the meeting are the organisation's Strategy for 2022-2026, which includes several important documents related to the organisation's  work, the latest regional developments, preparations for the next summit, which will be held on November 11 in Uzbekistan, as well as other issues of mutual interest, Caliber.Az reports citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry press service.

Bayramov spoke at an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the organisation and expressed the following main views:

The chairmanship of fraternal Türkiye in the organisation has made an important contribution to strengthening cooperation between member states. In this regard, holding the next summit in fraternal Uzbekistan will further strengthen the organisation.

Azerbaijan hopes that the adoption of many important documents at the October 17 summit, especially the Strategic Roadmap of the Organisation of Turkic States for 2022-2026, will significantly contribute to the work of the organisation.

Azerbaijan maintains extensive cooperation with the organization's member countries, both internally and bilaterally. In this regard, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's recent visits to Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are of exceptional importance.

The special attention paid within the framework of the organisation to the selection of Shusha city as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2023 deserves praise. We also believe that the Shusha Turkic Business Forum, held on September 16, 2022, will make an important contribution to the reconstruction work carried out in our liberated territories. Amidst the processes taking place in our geography, we believe that the organisation plays the role of a platform that creates ample opportunity to deal with these new challenges.

Azerbaijan constantly supports the activities of the organisation and will continue to make efforts to further strengthen relations between our fraternal peoples under the auspices of this organisation.

Then Bayramov brought to the meeting's notice Azerbaijan's viewpoint on key subjects on the agenda.

The minister detailed to the event attendees the recent clashes that happened as a result of Armenia's provocation, as well as the most recent circumstances connected to the work done within the scope of our initiative to sign a peace treaty with Armenia.

Furthermore, despite Azerbaijan's efforts to normalise relations with Armenia, open communications, and delimit borders, as well as in humanitarian sectors, Armenia obstructs the processes and flagrantly violates its obligations under the tripartite declarations.
