Azerbaijani FM: We always use opportunity to hold bilateral meeting
A meeting between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is being held in the Reception House of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow.
“We always use the opportunity to hold a bilateral meeting. I think we will have good fruitful discussions and we will be able to sum up the anniversary year of our relations and discuss a number of issues for the beginning of 2023,” Bayramov said, according to Report.
The Azerbaijani minister also thanked the Russian colleagues for organizing the meeting. According to him, the agreement to meet again was reached in early December.
These are the second talks between the Azerbaijani and Russian foreign ministers this month. Earlier, they met in early December to discuss the issues related to the relations between Baku and Yerevan, as well as the agenda of bilateral cooperation.
Meanwhile, Lavrov has said that Armenian colleagues refused to arrive in Moscow.
“It is a pity that such an opportunity was missed. The issue of a peace treaty will be also discussed today. We were preparing for this event, but unfortunately, at the last moment, our Armenian colleagues refused to arrive in Moscow due to the situation in the region. We should meet regularly, come to an agreement and create an opportunity to resolve all issues,” he said.
Initially, a meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia was planned to be held in Moscow on December 23 to discuss the preparation of a peace treaty, but Yerevan refused to participate in the meeting.
