Azerbaijani minister meets first vice-president of EBRD, talks range of issues with UAE counterpart

Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov met with First Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Jurgen Rigterink, the minister wrote on X.

According to Caliber.Az, the meeting took place within the 54th session of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

"As part of my trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, I had a meeting with the First Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Jurgen Rigterink. During our discussion, we highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation between the EBRD and Azerbaijan in the field of renewable energy, Azerbaijan's active participation in international initiatives and the prospects of hosting COP29 in the country. The EBRD's support to Azerbaijan in this field was also underlined," Jabbarov wrote.

Jabbarov also had a conversation with Abdulla bin Toug Al Marri, head of the Economy Ministry of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and co-chairman of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation between the AR and the UAE.

"On the margins of the World Economic Forum in Davos, I held a meeting with the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, Co-Chairman of the Azerbaijan-UAE Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation Abdulla bin Toug Al Marri. During the meeting, we expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral relations between the countries. Our discussions touched upon various aspects of the economic partnership agenda, including:

- preparations for the 9th meeting of the Azerbaijan-UAE Joint Intergovernmental Commission;
- increasing trade turnover and initiatives to develop business ties;
- co-operation within the framework of COP29;
- prospects of joint projects in the field of transition to sustainable energy sources," Jabbarov wrote.
