Azerbaijani police seize 33 kg of drugs, weapons smuggled from Iran PHOTO/VIDEO

Employees of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry's Main Anti-Drug Department have detained members of a transnational organized gang in an attempt to smuggle 33 kg of drugs and illegally acquired weapons from Iran.

Some 33 kg of drugs, two pistols, two assault rifles, a hunting rifle, 47 cartridges and three magazines were found and confiscated from the detainees, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Interior Ministry's press service.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated under the relevant articles of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code against the gang members.

The detainees have been taken into custody and an investigation is underway.
