Belarus registers Lukashenko as presidential candidate

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus has officially registered incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko as a candidate in the upcoming presidential election.

The CEC has registered five presidential candidates, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

The next presidential election in Belarus is scheduled for January 26, 2025. This decision was made during a session of the House of Representatives at the end of October. From November 7 to December 6, 2024, a signature collection campaign took place across the country in support of various political figures running for president. Prospective candidates must submit their registration documents to the CEC by December 21, 2024.
