British Intelligence: Russia struggles to train, equip drafted soldiers
"The late start to the [conscription] cycle is an indication of growing pressures on Russia’s ability to train and equip a large number of new conscripted personnel."
Caliber.Az reports referring to the Defence Intelligence update on the situation in Ukraine, which is published by the UK Defence Ministry on October 4.
It highlights that President Putin has signed the next draft cycle, expected to gather 120,000 new soldiers, to commence not on its traditional date of October 1, but in November.
"These conscripts are legally not permitted to be deployed outside of Russia", the report states and goes on to explain that they differ in a military category from the people that were drafted as a result of the partial mobilisation act announced by Putin on September 21.
The report elaborates on this point by stating that “the challenges of accommodating, training, equipping and deploying mobilised and conscripted personnel are significant. Deficiencies within the Russian administrative and logistical systems will continue to undermine these efforts”.
