China declares "war" on Intel, AMD chips, Windows operating system
New guidelines have come into force in China prohibiting the purchase of chips produced by Intel and AMD corporations by Chinese government agencies.
Also banned were the Windows operating system and foreign-developed databases, NEWSru.co.il reports.
Moreover, government agencies above the municipal level have been ordered “for security and reliability reasons” to now switch to computers and servers with locally produced chips and operating systems.
The largest Chinese chip manufacturer SMIC found itself under American sanctions back in 2019. The United States also banned the sale to China of equipment for the production of latest-generation chips, and in 2023, NVIDIA chips for artificial intelligence technologies.
In addition, in recent years, the USA, EU, Japan, India and other countries have begun to actively attract chip manufacturers to build factories on their territory.
