EC seeks clarification from Hungary on eased visa rules for Russians and Belarusians

Anita Hipper, a representative of the European Commission (EC), has said that the EC had asked Hungary to clarify the relaxation of visa requirements for citizens of Russia and Belarus.

This is necessary in order to check whether the decision complies with the norms of the European Union, she said at a briefing in Brussels, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

"The European Commission is in contact with the Hungarian authorities on this issue to clarify the scope of this scheme and whether it violates our rules. According to our policy, Russia is a threat to EU security, so the EU and its members must take all measures to ensure the security of the European Union and the Schengen area," Hipper said.
