EU aims to counter China's growing ties with Russia, says high rep
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell has said that the EU plans to work closely with Chinese authorities to prevent closer ties between China and Russia.
"We want to engage actively with China to counter its increasing alignment with Russia. The EU-China relations are influenced by Beijing's alleged support for Moscow in the conflict with Ukraine. Future relations between the EU and China will mainly depend on China's actions regarding the Ukrainian conflict," Borrell noted, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the relationship between Russia and China is not opportunistic and is not aimed against any other country. Meanwhile, China’s foreign ministry has repeatedly emphasised that Beijing is not a party to the conflict with Ukraine and has denied reports suggesting that China is supplying weapons to Russia.
