Finland may buy drones from Türkiye in exchange for NATO entry support
Finland may consider buying Turkish-made drones if Türkiye supports the former's application to join NATO.
According to Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto, Türkiye has weapons technologies that Finland may be interested in, including drones. Finland and Türkiye could conclude arms supply contracts with each other if they were members of NATO, the Centre for Analysis of the World Arms Trade (CAWAT) reports, quoting the Financial Times.
Experts believe that Haavisto was referring to Bayraktar TB2 drones, which were used in conflicts in Syria, Libya, Karabakh, and Ukraine, the report adds.
Türkiye has obstructed the start of NATO accession talks with Finland and Sweden. Ankara demands that Sweden and Finland publicly condemn the Kurdistan Workers' Party, which the Turkish authorities consider terrorist, and that these countries along with several other EU members lift the restrictions on arms exports imposed on Türkiye.
