Gallup poll finds Biden among worst US presidents
The current US president, Joe Biden, has one of the worst job approval ratings in the last 70 years in his third year in office, according to a Gallup survey.
The company's experts have been publishing the ratings table since 1952. Among other things, the researchers look at the average job approval ratings of US presidents during their third year in office.
Biden's work was evaluated by Americans surveyed between January 20, 2023 and January 19, 2024. It turned out that Biden's third year as head of state was approved by an average of 39.8 per cent of respondents.
Among other presidents elected to a first term, only Jimmy Carter in 1979 had a worse rating. At the time, gas prices were soaring, inflation was in double digits and Iranian militants were holding Americans hostage. As a result, Carter's three years in office averaged 37.4 per cent approval from American voters, according to the agency's pollsters.
