Georgian ex-president’s supporters holding rally near Justice Ministry
About 100 representatives of Georgia's biggest opposition party - the United National Movement, and their supporters are holding a rally outside the Ministry of Justice in Tbilisi on February 8 in support of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili.
The leaders of the National Movement are also near the building of the Ministry of Justice. The protesters showed a big poster #Freemisha. No incidents are observed. The rally is peaceful, TASS reports.
The National Movement began holding rallies in support of Saakashvili after the Tbilisi City Court rejected a request by the ex-president's lawyers on February 6 to release him due to health problems. The party members say that they will hold daily rallies near administrative buildings both in the capital and in the districts of the country. Their goal is to send Saakashvili abroad for medical treatment.
