Georgian PM justifies use of war imagery on election banners
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has defended the use of images depicting destruction from military actions in Ukraine on election banners for the ruling Georgian Dream party.
Kobakhidze stated that the intent behind these visuals is to remind the Georgian public of the costs associated with war and the value of peace, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
"We must remind the Georgian people what is the price of war and what is the price of peace," the Prime Minister emphasized. He referenced the promotional materials featuring scenes from Donetsk and Mariupol, recalling how high-ranking Ukrainian officials had previously urged Georgia to consider opening a “second front” against Russia.
Kobakhidze expressed concerns that the opposition's aim in the upcoming parliamentary elections, scheduled for October 26, is to advocate for a similar approach. He contended that their desire to regain power is tied to this call for a second front against Russia, highlighting the stakes involved in the electoral process.
