Armenian public figure Narek Malyan, currently imprisoned, has issued a warning regarding the potential consequences of recent events in Georgia.
Caliber.Az cites reports in Armenian media according to which Malyan predicts that Armenia may soon become a hub for a network of foreign agencies due to developments in neighbouring Georgia.
Malyan highlights the enactment of a law on foreign agents in Georgia, suggesting that this could lead to a relocation of foreign agent operations to Armenia. He expresses concerns that such a shift could provoke security apprehensions among regional countries, particularly Iran.
Malyan suggests that Armenia may transform into a base for foreign agent activities, with significant repercussions. He proposes the adoption of a similar law on foreign agents in Armenia as a potential solution. However, he notes that the influence of Western agents in Armenia makes the implementation of such legislation practically unfeasible.
