Istanbul hosts inaugural meeting of OTS ministers
The 1st meeting of the ministers in charge of science, technology, industry, and innovation of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) has kicked off in Istanbul.
A delegation led by Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov is representing Azerbaijan at the event, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During the meeting, it was suggested that the next gathering be held in Azerbaijan. Additionally, a joint statement outlining the outcomes of the meeting is anticipated to be adopted.
Addressing the event, Minister Jabbarov emphasized the importance of diversifying Azerbaijan's economy.
"One of the key tasks facing our country, which is rich in oil and gas resources, is to channel the revenues from these resources to diversify the economy.
In this regard, the development of non-oil industry and the creation of a favourable ecosystem conducive to this development is the focus of our economic policy. Naturally, our industrialisation policy should be sustainable and to this end, first of all, it should adequately respond to global challenges and trends," Jabbarov said.
Minister Jabbarov shared a post on his X account regarding the OTS meeting.
