Kazakh leader to attend BRICS summit in Russia
Advisor and press secretary of the Kazakh president Berik Uali has said that President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is set to participate in the BRICS summit to be held in Kazan, Russia on October 23-24.
“The president’s schedule includes participation in the BRICS summit, where he plans to deliver a speech on October 24 during an expanded session of the organisation in an outreach format,” Uali stated, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Aide to the Russian president Yury Ushakov has said that during the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to hold around 20 bilateral meetings. Ushakov noted that the bilateral meetings will begin on October 21 and continue until October 24.
As for the summit agenda, Ushakov explained that meetings among BRICS members will be held on October 22 and in the morning of October 23, including informal discussions.
The afternoon of October 23 and October 24 will feature "BRICS+ outreach" events, involving both member states and invited delegations.
More than 30 countries have confirmed their participation in the BRICS summit in Kazan, with 24 of them represented at the level of heads of state, Ushakov added.
During its BRICS presidency this year, Russia will focus on "promoting the entire range of partnership and cooperation within the association on three key tracks, namely, politics and security, the economy and finance, and cultural and humanitarian ties."
