Kurdish forces attack Syrian army in Deir ez-Zor VIDEO
The US-backed terrorist organisation PKK/YPG launched an attack aimed at driving Bashar al-Assad's forces and Iran-backed groups out of seven villages on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River in Deir ez-Zor province.
PKK/YPG terrorists, with US support, launched an assault on Syrian army positions and Iran-backed militias in Murat, Khasham, Mazloum, Tabiyah, Husayniyya, Salihiyah, and Hatla villages in Deir ez-Zor early this morning, Caliber.Az reports.
The PKK/YPG militants attacked these settlements from three directions, and clashes are ongoing.
On November 27, rebel forces launched a major offensive, capturing parts of Aleppo, the country's second-largest city, for the first time since 2016. After three days of intense fighting, Syrian government forces withdrew from the city on November 30.
The offensive coincided with the redeployment of pro-Iranian militias, including Hezbollah, which have traditionally supported the Assad regime but are now engaged in the conflict with Israel. Without their backing, government troops were unable to resist the rebel advance effectively.
