Moscow hosts fourth meeting of Russian-Azerbaijani expert council
A regular meeting of the Russian-Azerbaijani expert council was held in Moscow.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's Ambassador for Special Assignments Elshad Isgandarov and Deputy Director of the CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Kalugin emphasized that Russian-Azerbaijani relations have the character of strategic partnership, the Center for Analysis of International Relations (CAIR) of Azerbaijan told APA.
They noted the proximity of Moscow's and Baku's positions in the post-conflict period in the South Caucasus, particularly with regard to neutralizing the recently growing destructive interventions by non-regional states.
The closed sessions of the meeting, held under the conditions of interactive dialogue, focused on regional security issues, including such regional communication issues as the East-West route and the Zangezur corridor.
The meeting also adopted a communiqué on the practical recommendations of the Council related to various aspects of the development of ties between the two countries.
In the document to be presented to the upcoming XII CIS Russia-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum, the relevant state structures of both countries also considered it expedient to organize the Council's activities on a permanent basis.
