MP sees Germany as "big loser" in Ukraine war
Germany is in danger of being crushed between the great powers, said AfD co-chairwoman Alice Weidel on Dlf.
In the end, Germany will be "the big loser", "because we don't have competent government representatives who understand the problem in any way and who are able to represent our country’s interests at all".
Weidel is therefore calling for immediate peace negotiations with Moscow and the commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. In return, she also accepts the division of Ukraine: "What it ultimately means for Ukraine and for Russia and for the division of territory is not at all our issue," said Weidel. "We have to look at our country." It must be prevented that "the companies here all go over the Wupper".
Weidel rejects the call for Russian President Vladimir Putin to appear before the war crimes tribunal in The Hague: "Ukraine must also be held accountable. It is unacceptable for the West to accept the maximum demands of Ukraine completely without thinking."
The AfD co-chair also rejects the federal government's planned gas price cap. Instead, the existing capacities for expanding the energy supply in Germany must be exhausted, according to Weidel in the Dlf: "This includes letting the three nuclear power plants continue to run indefinitely, turning on the nuclear power plants that were shut down last year." Weidel refers to the first-mentioned nuclear power plants Power plants Isar II, Neckarwestheim II and Emsland.
