Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban arrives in Azerbaijan for Turkic states summit PHOTO
On July 5, Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban arrived in Azerbaijan to attend the Informal Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) to be held in Shusha.
A guard of honour was lined up for the Hungarian Premier at the Fuzuli International Airport decorated with the national flags of the OTS member countries, Caliber.Az reports citing Azertag.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was welcomed by Yagub Eyyubov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavand districts, Samir Sharifov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other officials.
Initiated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the summit will take place in the cultural capital of Azerbaijan - Shusha.
The Karabakh Declaration, as well as several other important documents, are expected to be signed following the summit.
A meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Turkic States will be held before the summit.
The Organisation of Turkic States is an international organisation that aims to promote comprehensive cooperation among Turkic-speaking countries.
Founded in 2009, the Organisation of Turkic States includes member states such as Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
The organisation focuses on various areas of collaboration, including politics, economics, culture, education, and transportation, with the goal of fostering stronger ties and mutual support among its members.
Observer countries, like Hungary, participate in the organisation’s activities to engage in and benefit from the cooperation framework. The Secretary General of the Organisation of Turkic States oversees the implementation of the organisation's policies and initiatives.
