Red Cross staff visits Azerbaijani servicemen in Armenian captivity

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) staff visited the Azerbaijanis held in Armenia in October.

One-on-one meetings were held with the detained persons and they were given the opportunity to communicate with their families, APA reports, citing the ICRC representative office in Azerbaijan.

Under its mandate, during such visits, the ICRC evaluates the treatment of detainees and the conditions of their detention.

The Red Cross also provides them with an opportunity to restore or continue contact with their families.

In line with the ICRC procedures, observations and recommendations related to visits are transmitted and discussed only with the detaining party.
