State Department: US still believes in possibility of Azerbaijan-Armenia peace
The US still believes that peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia is possible.
The remarks were made by Vedant Patel, First Deputy Press Secretary of the US State Department, during a briefing, Trend reports.
“We continue to believe that peace is possible. It’s something that the Secretary and others continue to remain deeply engaged on. I don’t have any updates on the negotiations between the parties, but we will continue to support this process.
Talks between Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan were held in the Kazakh city of Almaty on May 10-11, 2024.
The ministers welcomed the progress in the delimitation of the border and the agreements reached in this regard. The ministers and the delegations headed by them continued discussions on the provisions of the draft "Bilateral Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia". The sides agreed to continue negotiations on the issues on which there are still differences.
