Total of 243 children killed in Ukraine since start of Russia's invasion
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 243 children were killed by the Russian military.
According to Ukrinform, this is shown by data from juvenile prosecutors released by the Office of the Prosecutor General on Telegram.
"As of the morning of May 30, 2022, more than 687 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation. According to official data, 243 children were killed and more than 444 were injured," the report says.
These figures are not final, as work is underway to establish them in places of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.
Children were most affected in Donetsk region - 153, Kyiv region - 116, Kharkiv region - 109, Chernihiv region - 68, Luhansk region - 52, Kherson region - 52, Mykolaiv region - 47, Zaporizhzhia region - 29, Sumy region - 17, in capital - 16, and in Zhytomyr region - 15.
On May 29, as a result of artillery shelling by the Russian Armed Forces in the village of Mirolyubovka, Kherson region, a 9-year-old girl was killed. Two other children, a 7-month-old infant, and a 5-year-old girl were wounded.
On May 26, a 16-year-old boy was wounded due to Russian troops shelling Lysychansk, the Luhansk region.
On May 25, as a result of the shelling of the village of Studenok, Izyumsky district, Kharkiv region, a 3-year-old boy was injured.
Due to the constant bombing and shelling of Ukrainian towns and villages by the Russian armed forces, 1,888 educational institutions were damaged. At the same time, 180 of them were destroyed.
