Ukrainian authorities believe end of war with Russia depends on West’s weapon supplies

It would be frivolous to say that the war of Russia against Ukraine will end in May 2022, since Russia is not so weak.

Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, made the relevant remarks in an interview with NV.

Danilov said the situation will depend on how Western partners will supply Ukraine with the necessary weapons.

“I want to note that I am one of those people who clearly understand that Russia is not as weak as we would like. And those people who say that the war will end in May, or in a week, are frivolous. This is a complicated and multi-component process, and the help of our partners with weapons is the key moment in determining the situation today. Depending on what and in what terms will be delivered, the scales will fluctuate in one direction or the other,” Danilov explained.

At the same time, he noted that now a certain parity has indeed been achieved - it is very difficult for the Russian army to move further into the territory of Ukraine.

“But I pay attention: what concerns strategic aviation aircraft, what concerns the bombardment of our territory with missiles that have very powerful impressive capabilities, all this continues to work for us almost every day. The aggressor [Russia] is no longer operating only with aircraft, they are attracting submarines, the fleet, and many other military components,” Danilov said.
