President: Liberated lands have favourable natural conditions for agriculture

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said that the liberated Azerbaijani territories have a very favorable climate and natural conditions for agriculture, both for animal husbandry and crop production.

“Of course, we should fully use these opportunities,” President Aliyev said in an interview with Azerbaijani television in Basgal settlement of the Ismayilli district on August 12, Caliber.Az reports referring to Azertag.

The president noted that the problems related to food security are not today's issues.

“These issues have become more acute as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war. However, in principle, after our lands were liberated from the occupiers, I immediately instructed to start cultivating the liberated territories without wasting time. Grain has been planted on a 50,000-hectare area this year, and the harvesting process is under completion,” the Azerbaijani president noted.

“I think that we must use at least 100,000 hectares for grain growing on the liberated lands, of course, taking into account all modern agrotechnical measures, including the proper irrigation given that our main rivers were also occupied by the Armenians, the hated enemy deprived us of our own water. As is known, in fact, we could not use the water of the Tartar River, we could not use the water of the Khakari and Bazarchay rivers. These are the main rivers in the liberated lands. But the number of these rivers is even bigger,” President Aliyev added.
