The former "defence minister" of the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic", Igor Girkin (better known as Strelkov), has said that Armenia has failed to fulfil most of its obligations under the trilateral ceasefire agreement signed by Baku, Moscow and Yerevan in 2020.

He said that the aggravation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict was inevitable because of Yerevan's position. The former separatist official said that Armenia cannot count on the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, Caliber.Az reports.

"Anyone who has been reading and listening to me for a long time knows that the resumption (sooner or later) of hostilities (between Azerbaijan and Armenia - Ed.) was predicted by me shortly after the 'freezing' of hostilities with the mediation of the Russian Federation (and with the pressure of Iran). Armenia has not fulfilled most of its obligations (which is not surprising, since they cause direct damage to its sovereignty) and Azerbaijan (i.e. Türkiye) will 'put the squeeze on' Pashinyan until the conditions of the previous surrender are fulfilled (supplementing it - as the effort is expended - with additional options).

Russia is not in a position to prevent this now, because it is 'up to its ears' in the military conflict in Ukraine, which is proceeding, in addition, extremely unsuccessfully and requires the involvement of all free forces (which are still not enough). No one else in the so-called CSTO will defend Armenia, because a) they are not able to, b) they did not really want to.

Accordingly, whether the Turkish-Azerbaijani coalition will finally succeed in 'insecting' Armenia depends almost exclusively on the position of Iran, more precisely, on whether the Iranian army will be ready to stand up for the Armenians decisively and 'with great strength'. - But on this occasion, I do not consider myself competent to predict anything," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
