China chooses successor for Russian leader
What did Russian Security Council secretary do in China?
WORLD 20 September 2022 - 13:30
The Kremlin is banking on China. Old and experienced officer of the main security agency (KGB) Nikolai Patrushev launched his activity.
His meetings with Chinese senior officials were held in Fuzhou city in the remote province of Fujian rather than in Beijing, according to focus.ua.
All meetings were held in a closed format.
Most media outlets broadcast information about the funeral ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II amid all international events. However, Patrushev’s two-day visit to China is more important.
There, he met with Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Committee of the People's Republic of China Guo Shengkun, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party Yang Jiechi and Chinese Minister of State Security Chen Wenqing.
This is a very high level of meetings for the secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. Maybe Beijing sees Patrushev as a successor for President Putin?
While searching for some friends on all continents, the Kremlin realised that it was useless to rely on Türkiye. Türkiye refused to help Moscow in the military and technical sphere. Ankara also refused to accept Russian Mir payment cards in the field of trade and tourism. Today Türkiye also refused to train Russian civil aviation pilots.
The Xinhua state-run Chinese news agency writes little about Patrushev’s meetings in China. The Russian media disseminated this information, although there were no Russian journalists in Patrushev's pool.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Member of the Political Bureau Guo Shengkun praised the meetings.
He noted that "political mutual trust between the two countries continues intensifying, mutually beneficial cooperation yields fruitful results, and friendship from generation to generation is in the hearts of people".
During these talks, special attention was paid to the intensification of cooperation between Chinese and Russian law enforcement and security agencies, as well as to intelligence information exchange.
The sides agreed to continue military cooperation, including joint military exercises and joint patrols (*Patrol as the creation and development of "corridors" for trade traffic in the potential area of the Taiwanese conflict to protect shipping).
Patrushev expressed the readiness of the Russian side to further intensify exchanges at all levels with the Chinese side to create strong security for the uninterrupted development of cooperation between the two countries in various spheres.
There are alarming signals not only for Ukraine but for the whole world, including the US and other NATO member states.
