Azerbaijani pundit slams France for its anti-Azerbaijan policy
"French ambassador to Baku should be subjected to total obstruction"
POLITICS 05 January 2023 - 10:45
Farhad Mammadov, political scientist and head of the South Caucasus Research Centre, has commented on the anti-Azerbaijani policy of France on his Telegram channel.
“I wonder how many more articles in the world's leading media outlets, as well as tweets by the world's most popular people about the situation on the Lachin road have to be published before the Armenian leadership realises that this has no bearing on the decisions of the Azerbaijani leadership and civil society representatives,” he wrote.
“All these appeals, engaged statements, letters, proclamations, posters and collages are powerless in front of legal grounds. All this howling of prostituted politicians, Islamophobes, Turkophobes and those favouring the recreation of the USSR is not being responded to by the governments of these countries. But what to tell them?!”
Mammadov added that they should either note that this is Azerbaijani territory and they are doing their best to resolve the situation, or they should clearly state that they do not recognise Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan and will continue efforts to alienate the territory from Azerbaijan.
“However, the French leadership chooses the second option, not responding to the resolution of the lower house of parliament and the letter of the leading political forces, in effect agreeing to the call not to consider Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan. Of course, official Baku is reacting, but it is also important to be proactive. For example, consider the topics of Corsica and New Caledonia not at the public level and in five-minute meetings in parliament, but adopt parliament's decisions and call on the government,” he continued.
According to Mammadov, the French ambassador to Baku, and the French issue in general, should be subjected to total obstruction: the French Ambassador should be ignored at all levels, except at the Foreign Ministry, and then only when protest notes are issued the whole matter should be brought down to the level of the head of department or sector.
“A meeting with a deputy minister should be an achievement for the French ambassador. It should be so humiliating that other countries realise what they may be facing. What diplomatic tact can there be in the current circumstances?! We are already being blamed for all our sins, so why all these subtleties?!" Mammadov concluded.
