New Croatian government receives confidence vote in Zagreb assembly

After Croatia's April 17 elections, a new government led by Croatian Democratic Union leader and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has taken charge, Anadolu Agency reports.
In a vote held in the 151-seat National Assembly in the capital of Zagreb, the newly-formed government secured a vote of confidence with 79 "yes" votes and 61 "no" votes from members of parliament, with one abstention.
Plenkovic, who will lead the government for the next 4 years, was sworn in as prime minister.
The names of the ministers who will serve in the new coalition government formed by the centre-right party Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the far-right "Homeland Movement" are as follows: Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman, Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic, Finance Minister Marko Primorac, War Minister Veterans Tomo Medved, Health Minister Vili Beros, Transport Minister Oleg Butkovic, Culture and Media Minister Nina Obuljen Korzinek, Family and Social Policy Minister Marin Piletic, Economy Minister Ante Susnjar, Construction, Spatial Planning and Property Minister Branko Bacic, Education Minister Radovan Fuchs, Defense Minister Ivan Anusic, Tourism and Sports Minister Tonci Glavina, European Union Funds and Regional Development Minister Sime Erlic, Justice Minister Damir Habijan, Environmental Protection and Green Transition Minister Marija Vuckovic, Agriculture Minister Josip Dabro, Demography and Migration Minister Ivan Sipic.
Croatian Democratic Union’s 3rd consecutive victory
In the April 17 general elections, HDZ secured victory by entering 61 deputies into parliament.
The "Rivers of Justice" Alliance, formed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Center Party, the People's Party-Reformists, the Civic-Liberal Alliance (GLAS), the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) and the party with the name and surname (SSIP) was second with 42 seats.
The "Homeland Movement" Alliance entered the National Assembly with 14 members, while the "Bridge and Partners" Alliance had 11, the "We Can" Alliance had 10, the Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) and the Independent Northern Platform each had two and the Focus-Republic Alliance had one member in parliament.
Additionally, there are eight members of minority parties in the National Assembly.
HDZ, which won the general elections in 2016 and 2020, declared its third consecutive victory in the election.
