Official believes foreign mission has to be deployed to ensure security for returning Western Azerbaijanis

The return of Azerbaijanis to Western Azerbaijan will play a crucial role in the establishment of peace in the region.

According to Report, the Chairman of the Western Azerbaijan Community, Aziz Alakberli, gave this assessment, saying, that the protection of our patriots' rights, that have been driven out from their historic lands where they lived for the last 200 years, is his organization's main goal.

"The concept of the return to Western Azerbaijan is intended to ensure the peaceful return of these people to their lands in accordance with international law. The document under consideration can be considered as a framework document for the return to West Azerbaijan and consists of 5 sections and 10 subsections. All the provisions contained in this document are based on international conventions, protocols and human rights instruments", the chairman assured.

Referring to the main demand, depicted in the concept document, regarding the security guarantee to our patriots on an internal level, Alakberli noted, that the Armenians have committed countless crimes against the Azerbaijani people throughout the past 200 years and that there are no guarantees, that the Armenian side will not pursue to illegal actions against those Azerbaijanis that will return to those lands.

The chairman stated, that he believes, "that before returning to Western Azerbaijan, those governments, that Azerbaijan has trust in, have to deploy a mission there in order to ensure the security of the returned people".
