More than 40 events were held in the Azerbaijan pavilion during the Russian Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy in Moscow over four years.
Over 1 million people visit the pavilion every year, Caliber.Az reports, citing the official website of the Moscow mayor.
“The Azerbaijan Pavilion, located in Pavilion No. 14 “Computer Engineering and Informatics” (former “Azerbaijan SSR”) at VDNKh [Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy], celebrates four years of activity. It opened after restoration on November 23, 2019. More than 1 million people visit the pavilion every year. Over four years, it has hosted over 40 events, including art exhibitions, national holidays with tastings, and music and dance performances,” the statement says.
It is noted that the restoration of the building began in 2014. First of all, specialists dismantled the false facade. The historical appearance of the building, decorated with ethnic majolica patterns and Soviet symbols, was revealed. The next stage of restoration of the historical appearance of the pavilion began in 2018.
The stalactite vault decorated with vines, as well as stucco decoration, were restored in the main entrance portal. In addition, the granite main staircase, plinth, plaster layer of the walls, ceramic decor of the main facade, cornices, metal structures of the greenhouse and stylobate were restored.
In addition, all elements of the entrance group were recreated: the front door block, the bowls of two paired fountains and the historical sculptures “Shepherd” and “Azerbaijani Woman”, made from the surviving author’s casts from the fund of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art.
