World-renowned photojournalist plans to publish new books on his Karabakh journey

    CULTURE  05 May 2024 - 10:01

World-renowned photojournalist Reza Deghati has unveiled plans to publish two books chronicling his experiences in Karabakh, shedding light on the region's devastation during the occupation and its subsequent reconstruction.

“I have been visiting Karabakh since 1992 and each time I take a lot of photos. I am currently preparing two books about my visits to Karabakh for publication. The first book will describe in photographic language how Karabakh was destroyed and devastated during the occupation. The second book will be devoted to the period of Karabakh's reconstruction after liberation. These books will be presented to the public before the end of the year. I hope that my next book will be ready within two years,” Deghati said in an interview with Azertag.

During the interview, Deghati also shared his opinion on whether some professions will become unnecessary in the future after the advent of artificial intelligence.

"It is now widely debated whether artificial intelligence will be a threat or a support for development. In fact, both artificial intelligence and computers - all technological equipment - have a human factor behind them. Humanity is constantly creating new tools to make its work easier. Artificial intelligence may destroy some professions, but it will also stimulate the creation of a number of new ones. For example, the profession of the translator may already be automated, but the translator will find a new job related to artificial intelligence. The same can be said about the profession of photographer, movie director, artist, writer. I think we should look at artificial intelligence as a tool that can facilitate human labour," Deghati said.
