Ukraine expands global cultural reach with new audio guide in Baku
A Ukrainian-language audio guide has officially been introduced in Azerbaijan, marking another milestone in Ukraine’s cultural diplomacy efforts.
The announcement was made by Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska, Caliber.Az reports via the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The new guide is part of an ambitious international project aimed at the Ukrainianisation of global cultural heritage sites. Under this initiative, 102 Ukrainian-language audio tours have been launched across 53 countries, enabling Ukrainian speakers to engage with international landmarks and museums in their native language.
The latest addition to this growing network is now available at the Surakhani, the world’s first tanker-museum located on the Caspian Sea coast. The floating museum, moored in Baku, offers visitors a unique insight into maritime history and oil transport in the region, now accessible to Ukrainian tourists in their own language.
“Ukrainians travelling to Luxembourg or Azerbaijan will have something to see and hear in their native language. Consequently, to better understand new countries. And maybe even their own history,” said First Lady Zelenska.
“Because museums unite the world by telling about what is important for everyone. This is what our language does now in the project of Ukrainian audio guides," she added.
