"Deadly Legacy" director says film opened her eyes to landmine crisis

It was a “great honor” to be part of the team behind “Deadly Legacy,” a documentary highlighting the global threat posed by landmines, the film’s director Alison Jayne Wilson said during a private screening in Baku, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The documentary was produced by Beach House Pictures at the request of the Karabakh Revival Fund (KRF). 

Wilson said she had spent many years working on films addressing social justice and other important public issues, and had considered herself well informed about such matters.

“But I can honestly admit that before I started working on this film, I was not actually as knowledgeable about the threat posed by landmines as I thought I was,” she said.

Wilson described the project as an important opportunity to deepen public understanding of the humanitarian consequences of landmines and to draw greater attention to the issue.

The documentary examines the scale and impact of mine contamination, including in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, while also highlighting broader international efforts to address the global mine threat.
