Azerbaijan, Iraq explore new era of media cooperation

Azerbaijan and Iraq have discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation between their media organizations and expanding exchanges in news, culture and sports.

The discussions were held during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Iraq Eldar Salimov and head of the Iraqi Media Network Abdul Karim Hammadi, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iraqi News Agency.

During the meeting, Hammadi underscored that Azerbaijan and Iraq enjoy strong relations, while highlighting the keen interest among Iraqi citizens in Azerbaijan and its rich tourism, cultural and historical heritage.

He noted that the Iraqi Media Network is open to cooperation with Azerbaijani media outlets, which will contribute to projecting a positive image and strengthening ties between the two peoples. He added that one of the network’s key responsibilities is to deliver information to Iraqi citizens and introduce them to various destinations and places they can visit, particularly in Azerbaijan.

Hammadi further said that the network is also exploring the possibility of establishing suitable training camps in Azerbaijan for Iraqi athletes, while reaffirming the Iraqi Media Network’s readiness to provide the necessary facilities for Azerbaijani media personnel wishing to conduct media work within Iraq.

For his part, Azerbaijani Ambassador Eldar Salimov expressed interest in concluding a cooperation agreement between Azerbaijani and Iraqi media organizations, stressing the importance of expanding the exchange of news and information.

He said closer cooperation between the two countries’ media outlets would contribute to more comprehensive coverage of developments and events in Azerbaijan and Iraq, while further strengthening people-to-people ties.
