Albanian-Udi Christian community members visit Ganjasar in Azerbaijan PHOTO

Members of the Albanian-Udi Christian religious community in Azerbaijan have visited the Ganjasar monastery complex in the village of Vangli, Aghdara district.

Dating back to the 13th century, the Ganjasar monastery complex is regarded as an important example of Albanian Christian heritage, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Located on the left bank of the Khachinchay (river), it served as one of the central residences of the Albanian Church during the Middle Ages.

The foundation of the monastery was laid in 1216, while its construction was completed in the 13th century.

The representatives, who are visiting Ganjasar for the first time, are performing religious rites at the monastery.
