07 September 2026 22:01

Clay vessels believed to date from the Late Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age have been discovered during road construction work in Azerbaijan’s Jalilabad district.

According to local media, the pottery and jugs were unearthed during excavation work in the village of Aghdash.

Vafa Mahmudova, a senior researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), said a preliminary assessment dated the finds to the Late Bronze Age – Early Iron Age period.

The relevant authorities have been informed of the discovery.

Further archaeological research is expected to be carried out at the site to determine whether other artefacts are present and establish the exact date of the materials found.
