Türkiye’s Igdir province holds Kharibulbul exhibition-fair PHOTO

28 August 2026 19:54

Türkiye’s Igdir province, bordering Azerbaijan, is holding a Kharibulbul exhibition and fair showcasing decorative and applied arts and handmade crafts.

The two-day event is centred on the Kharibulbul flower, a symbol of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Residents and visitors can view a wide range of works by artisans from the Igdir Public Education Centre, including dolls, brooches, keychains, magnets, handbags, scarves and jewellery featuring Kharibulbul motifs.

The flower holds particular significance not only for Azerbaijan but also for the wider Turkic world.

The initiative aims to preserve traditional crafts in Igdir while turning Kharibulbul into a shared cultural value of Türkiye and Azerbaijan.

Igdir Governor Mustafa Fırat Tasolar and his wife, Didem Tasolar, who oversees the province’s Public Education Centre, attended the opening of the two-day exhibition and fair.

Visitors showed particular interest in the “Igdir dolls,” traditional Anatolian souvenirs dressed in national costumes embroidered with Kharibulbul flowers.

Many visitors also came from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan’s exclave territory.

Zehra Arat, deputy head of the Igdir Directorate of Culture and Tourism, described Kharibulbul as a “symbol of freedom and love for the homeland.”

“After the victory in the 44-day Patriotic War, the Kharibulbul flower also became an important symbol for the people of Türkiye. Seeing this flower makes us remember the heroism of our martyrs and once again fills us with the joy of victory. For me, Kharibulbul is a sign of patriotism, strength and independence that has become part of the culture of the people of Igdir,” she said.

The organizers emphasized the importance of further promoting Azerbaijani culture in Türkiye in line with the motto “One nation, two states.”
