Moroccan Heritage Days to showcase culture in Baku

09 September 2026 18:06

Moroccan Heritage Days will take place in Baku from September 10 to 14, offering Azerbaijani audiences an opportunity to explore Morocco’s cultural heritage through fashion, music, photography, cuisine and traditional crafts.

The five-day event is being organised by the Embassy of Morocco in Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Moroccan association Joussour des Arts et de la Créativité, Caliber.Az reports.

A central feature of the programme will be the Moroccan caftan, one of the country’s most distinctive cultural symbols. In 2025, UNESCO added the Moroccan caftan to its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The programme will also feature traditional women’s clothing, Moroccan music and photography, handicrafts, cuisine and presentations highlighting the country as a tourism destination.

The Moroccan Embassy said the event reflects the growing cultural ties between Morocco and Azerbaijan. The two countries have maintained diplomatic relations since 1992, with bilateral cooperation expanding in recent years.

The entry into force of a visa-free agreement between Morocco and Azerbaijan in August 2024 has further opened opportunities for tourism, cultural exchange and closer people-to-people contacts, the embassy said.
