Azerbaijani Mugham performers receive awards at Romanian festival PHOTO
Azerbaijani mugham, a traditional musical form, was presented at an international festival in the Romanian city of Târgu Lăpuş, where Azerbaijani musicians received awards from the organisers.
According to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Romania, the participation of the country’s performers was supported by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture and diplomatic mission in Romania, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The festival, held in connection with Maramureş Day, brought together vocal and dance groups from Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Albania and Azerbaijan.
Officials from Romania and the other participating countries attended the event.
The organisers presented awards to performers from the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic and the Fikrat Amirov State Song and Dance Ensemble.
The recipients included Mugham TV competition laureate and singer Ravana Gurbanova, kamancha player and Honored Artist Khayyam Mammadov, and tar player and ensemble manager and Honored Cultural Worker Elchin Abbasov.
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Romania Gudsi Osmanov and a delegation led by Elchin Yusubov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankandi and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, also attended the festival.
