Jackie Chan’s blockbuster mission in Azerbaijan comes to an end PHOTO

17 August 2026 16:50

Filming for the Azerbaijani segment of "Armour of God 4: Ultimatum" adventure film starring legendary actor Jackie Chan, has been successfully completed, marking what officials describe as the largest foreign film production project carried out in Azerbaijan to date.

The Azerbaijan Film Commission said the project represents a major step in the country’s efforts to attract international filmmakers and promote Azerbaijan as a global filming destination, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The attraction of foreign film productions is among the priorities outlined in a presidential order signed on May 29, 2025, on the production of cinematic and other audiovisual works in Azerbaijan. The initiative includes mechanisms such as a cash-rebate scheme to reimburse part of the expenses incurred by foreign filmmakers.

Over the past year, intensive efforts have been made to implement the initiative. The Azerbaijan Film Commission, established by the Ministry of Culture to promote filmmaking in the country, has been presenting Azerbaijan’s production opportunities to international film companies.

The Azerbaijani segment of “Armour of God 4: Ultimatum” was supported by 26 government institutions, including the Ministries of Digital Development and Transport, Internal Affairs, and Emergency Situations. The agencies provided assistance to the production team under the coordination of the Ministry of Culture.

Officials said the successful completion of the shoot could strengthen Azerbaijan’s appeal as a location for future international productions and raise the country’s profile in the global film industry.

The project also provided opportunities for the development of Azerbaijan’s domestic film sector. More than 200 local specialists and dozens of Azerbaijani companies participated in the production, allowing local professionals to gain experience working on a major international film project and expand cooperation with foreign industry partners.

The production is also expected to contribute to Azerbaijan’s international tourism promotion. Officials said the film’s global audience, particularly Jackie Chan’s large fan base in Southeast Asia, could help draw greater attention to Azerbaijan as a tourist destination.

Following the completion of filming, Chan met with representatives of government agencies and companies involved in supporting the production. The actor personally thanked them for their assistance and presented them with commemorative gifts.
