Baku honors iconic singer Muslim Magomayev on 84th birth anniversary PHOTO
A memorial ceremony was held at the Alley of Honor in Baku to commemorate the 84th anniversary of the birth of legendary Azerbaijani singer and People’s Artist Muslim Magomayev.
As Caliber.Az reports per local media, Magomayev’s wife, USSR People’s Artist Tamara Sinyavskaya, Deputy Culture Minister Saadat Yusifova, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and prominent figures from Azerbaijan’s cultural community attended the ceremony.
The attendees paid tribute to the celebrated artist at his grave and laid flowers in his memory.
Muslim Magomayev was born in Baku on August 17, 1942. He was the grandson of renowned Azerbaijani composer Muslim Magomayev.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential vocalists of the Soviet era, Magomayev achieved widespread recognition for his powerful voice and extensive repertoire, earning a lasting place in the musical and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and the former Soviet Union.
